Sugaring in extreme heat: Our practical tips for FIRE & EARTH.

Several studios have told us that during consecutive days of temperatures above 32–35°C, even our firmer EARTH and FIRE sugar pastes can become considerably softer and more difficult to work with.

We have now been able to reproduce the same effect in practice together with our sugaring trainer.

What happens during extreme heat?

Sugar paste naturally reacts to temperature and humidity. During prolonged periods of exceptional heat, even EARTH and FIRE can therefore become soft enough to make your usual working technique more difficult – particularly in combination with warm hands, high humidity or perspiring skin.

The simple solution: pre-cool your paste

During these exceptional weather conditions, EARTH and FIRE can be stored or pre-cooled in a refrigerator or another suitably cool environment before use.

A few practical points:

– Always keep the containers properly closed and sealed.
– Take the paste out of refrigeration early enough before the treatment to reach your preferred working consistency.
– The ideal cooling and tempering time will depend on room temperature, your working technique and your personal preference.
– If you have consecutive clients throughout the day, consider working with two sets of paste: while one set is in use, the second remains cooled and ready for upcoming treatments.

This makes it much easier to maintain the firmer starting consistency of FIRE and EARTH during exceptionally hot weather.

Skin preparation and moisture matter too

During hot weather, paste temperature is only one part of the equation. Perspiration and moisture on the skin can make sugaring considerably more difficult.

We therefore recommend thoroughly cleansing and preparing the skin with our myhairfreeskin FOAM Cleanser before sugaring and paying particular attention to keeping the skin dry throughout the treatment.

What we’ve learned from this summer

Several consecutive days above 32–35°C create exceptional conditions for everyday sugaring practice too.

Rather than fundamentally changing the consistency of our pastes, pre-cooling them during these exceptional periods provides a simple and flexible solution. Once temperatures return to normal, FIRE and EARTH can be stored and used as usual.
